Akumal, Mexico: Day 1
It's easy to wake up late at Casita Natasha in Playa Caribe, as there are no windows. But the place is wonderful nonetheless.
After waking up we played with our puzzle that Bug's sister gave to her, cleaned up the place a bit, and then finally set out for lunch.
We went into the Pueblo across the bridge over the main highway, and walked around for a bit. We finally settles on a place called El Último Maya. We had a drink there before, but had never eaten. It seemed lively, with people sitting outside, so we decided to give it a try. We were impressed!
Bug got a shrimp tostada and I got an el pastor quesadilla. We also got a guacamole appetizer that was excellent. It came with three sauces, tamarind, habanero cream sauce, and a chipotle cream sauce.
After that we walked around the pueblo a bit, and went to Tres Hermanos convenience store and bought some provisions. After that we stopped by a little tienda on the side of the road, and Bug bought a whole roasted chicken that she had been wanting to try ever since we first came here. With chicken in hand, we went back to the house to relax and get out to the pool on this cloudy, cool day.
Bug headed out to the pool first, while I continued to get ready. As I finally opened the door to head outside, I near ran into a woman and her large beautiful dog. We started chatting about the sog at first, of course. I came to learn her name is Barb from Minnesota and she has been coming to Akumal for 15 years and living in Half Moon Bay for 3. We chatted for a while about what it's like to live here and socialize with people. I've been curious and I've been considering the possibility of living here.
As we chatted for a bit, her husband and a friend came around. She introduced me to them. Her husband's name is Glen was an investigator for the FBI and his friend's name is Roger from Austin, Texas and is an ex-meteorologist. We got along rather quickly. Soon, Roger's wife Julie came around and she introduced herself as a commercial pilot.
Soon it started to rain, and Roger, Julie, Bug, and I took shelter in some chairs under the main entrance and proceeded to shoot the shit until 12:30am. The conversation flowed easily. It was an amazing.
