Terrible scenery in Half Moon Bay

The 3rd day of the new year was a good one. After our new morning routine, and a wee bit o work, we emerged onto the pool patio, where we were greeted by the many smiling faces who have become our friends. We laughed, we cheers’d, we had more beachside photo shoots. I ventured out for a dip in the sea, which was not warm, not cold, but definitely refreshing.

After some major poolside lounging, it was time for dinner. We had our sites, and tastebuds, set on Luis y Marisol’s Tacos y Pastas, but alas we were thwarted, once again. We had run out of pesos and the (now) only ATM in town had as well. So, we instead went to the well known Lol-Ha in Akumal Bay. We had Patrón margaritas, queso fundido, guacamole, and a torta de cochinita pibil. As expected, our selections did not disappoint. Not to mention our Don Julio 70 tasting. It was delicious!

We then returned “home” for more late night stargazing. Tonight was improved only by the addition of the night guard Angel, with whom we shared Jeff’s awesome astronomy app. While admiring the skies, we were greeted by 2 new friends, this time of the canine persuasion. One was wearing a red harness, no tag, and the other was colarless. We gave them some water and good puppy scritches, after which they curled up and took a nap. They seemed well taken care of, and as though someone was probably missing them. After the larger of the two urinated in the footbath, they took off down the beach into the night. We stayed up for a bit more, sky watching, before finally retiring back into our Yucatecan cave.
