New Year’s Eve 2023
"And now we welcome the new year, full of things that have never been." - Rainer Maria Rilke
Happy New Year, everyone! You made it. Another trip around the sun, and we're alive for it. Woohoo!
Yesterday we woke up, drank coffee, tried to solve the puzzle, and wrote the blog post. After that we put on our swimsuits and walked around to the front of the building to join whatever party our neighbors were cooking up that we can't see from the back. We entered the courtyard wearing festive New Year's Eve flair.
We spent the afternoon showing our neighbors how to do the puzzle, listening to music, and getting to know each other better.
At 3pm, we went to the store to buy beer and snacks, as the store closed at 5pm. When we returned our neighbors were cooking their dinner on a flat top grill!
At this point we decided to order and go pick up some food from AK Restaurant & Bar. We would sit at the bar and drink a margarita while we waited. The margaritas were great, but the staff was flustered, so we grabbed our food and went back to the condo. We sat at a table and ate our dinner while talking to one of our new friends, Peter. Once we finished up, we came inside, put stuff away, went back outside and everyone else had retired.
So we proceeded to do a photo shoot, hang out watching the fireworks, and ring in the New Year! Ringing in 2024 on a beach in Mexico is like a dream come true. We can't wait to see what adventures this new year holds!
